Hi i'm Sara Lowe,

I have owned Akitas since 2001 they are a beautiful breed with everyone being so different from another. They come in so many fabulous colours and one of my biggest enjoyments in life is watching a litter being born having no idea what colour or markings they will all have, its just so exciting. Then watching each individual grow and develop its personality is a delight, I just love them.
I am english but moved to Norway in november 2008 for a change of life, my dogs have never been happier, there are so many nice places to walk and last winter they just loved the snow, they must think they have landed in heaven.
My main use for the dogs is showing but sometimes I wonder why! I get so stressed trying to get everything so perfect im sure I could get a better use of time and money, but its like an addiction and once you begin showing its almost impossible to stop. Its also exciting driving around visiting places I wouldnt otherwise go to...I know many people just go stright to the show and home, but when I was in england I used to go a day before, find some nice places to walk the dogs and sleep in my tent :)
I take all my akitas to obedience classes, you and the dog never stop learning and each dog has its own strengths and weeknesses. My first dog Mia was a very fast learner but very dominant with other dogs, not agressive, she never bit just pinned them to th ground with her kneck and body weight. Her daughter Tia was a return puppy, she was so lively the owner couldnt keep control, they beat her but tht only made her frightened and she ran away at every oppertunity. She took a long time to trust and accept human touch without shaking and trying to escape, dog showing really helped with this problem as she had many people feeling her body. Tia had a litter and I kept two pups Sox & Wiz, one would never lay down and the other wouldnt sit....arrgh it took weeks to teach them and was very frustrating. My newest family member Storm is Soxs daughter, she simply seems like she doesn't know her own name and she has the attention span of a goldfish....
Challenges ... that is the breed I love.
